What roofing work do you do in Dickinson, TX?

The same work we do at home in League City: leak repair, full tear off and replacement, storm damage inspections, and cedar privacy fences. Dickinson is about 6 miles south of our shop, down Interstate 45 and over to FM 517, one of the closest towns we serve.

Dickinson roofs have their own problems. Much of the housing stock is older, and much of it sits under big live oaks. That shade keeps north slopes damp, so algae streaks and moss show up years early. Leaves pile in the valleys and behind chimneys, hold water against the shingles, and rot the deck underneath. Then a hurricane finds every weak spot the trees already made. Beryl in July 2024 lifted ridges and edges across Galveston County, and plenty of roofs here still have creased shingles nobody has fixed.

The other thing about Dickinson is Harvey. The flooding in August 2017 was severe here, and a lot of families spent the next two years rebuilding the inside of the house. A roof that was fine in 2017 is nine years older now. If your ceiling has a stain that keeps growing, start with our roof repair page. If the shingles are curling or bald across whole slopes, read what goes into a full roof replacement. After a storm, our storm damage roof repair page explains how we document wind and hail for your insurance without pushing you into a claim.

Dickinson also has manufactured homes: lower pitch, less overhang, edges that catch the wind. Call and describe it, and Vance will tell you straight whether it is a job we do well.

What do the live oaks do to an older Dickinson roof?

Three things. Shade: a north slope under an oak never dries out in our humidity, so moss grows and holds water against the shingle until the granules let go. Debris: leaves and twigs collect in valleys, behind chimneys and along wall flashing, water backs up under the shingles in a hard rain, and a valley that has not been cleared in years hides soft decking. Contact: a limb that rubs the roof in the wind scrubs a shingle bald in one season.

The fix is not complicated. Clear the valleys and gutters every fall and after a big blow. Trim limbs so nothing touches the roof. When it is time for a new roof, run ice and water shield the full length of every valley and around every penetration. Vance checks all three when he walks a roof in Dickinson.

Dickinson roofs after Harvey and Beryl, and the windstorm deductible

Two storms shape most roof conversations here. Harvey in August 2017 was a flood, not a wind event, so most Dickinson roofs came through it while the inside of the house did not. Beryl on July 8, 2024 was the wind event. It lifted shingles along ridges and eaves, and a lifted shingle never seals flat again. If nobody has looked at your roof since Beryl, a roof inspection with photos tells you where you stand.

Galveston County is a first tier coastal county under the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, so many Dickinson homeowners carry a separate windstorm policy with its own deductible, often larger than a repair. Vance photographs the damage, writes up what he found, and prices both a repair and a replacement. You decide whether to file. We do not promise what an adjuster will approve, and we do not knock on doors after a storm.

Where in Dickinson we work, and how quickly we can get there

All of it. The older streets on both sides of Dickinson Bayou, the homes along FM 517 out toward the bay, and the subdivisions off Interstate 45. From our shop at 2125 Boden St in League City the drive is about 6 miles, so a leak call in Dickinson does not wait behind a job across Houston. We work Monday through Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM. If water is coming in right now, our emergency roof leak repair page covers the first hour before we arrive. If a fence run went over in the last storm, our fence repair page covers when a leaning post can be reset and when the run needs rebuilding. Call (713) 828-2551 and tell Vance what you are seeing.

Repair or Replace

Repair or replace an older Dickinson roof?

Walk out to the street and look at the whole roof, not the leak. If the shingles lie flat, still have granules, and the trouble is one valley, one pipe boot or one lifted ridge, repair it. If the shingles are curling, the granules are in the gutters, the deck feels soft near the eaves, or you have stains in more than one room, the roof is done and patches are money thrown away. Vance walks every slope, tells you which one you have, and writes both numbers down.

Why Vance

Why Dickinson homeowners call A Honesty Roofing

Six miles, not sixty

Our shop is on Boden Street in League City, a short drive up Interstate 45. Vance quotes Dickinson roofs himself, comes back to check on the crew, and is close enough to swing by if something needs a second look after the job.

Honest about old roofs

A lot of Dickinson roofs are past twenty years. If yours has one bad spot and years left, Vance repairs it. If it is finished, he says so and prices the replacement. He does not sell a repair he expects to fail or a roof you do not need.

Tree damage found before it leaks

Vance clears the valleys and looks under the debris when he inspects, because that is where oak litter rots a deck. You get photos of what he found and a plain list of what needs doing now and what can wait.

Written price before work starts

Every Dickinson job gets a written price up front: tear off, decking repair by the sheet, underlayment, shingles, flashing, ridge vent and cleanup with a magnet. The number does not change unless you and Vance agree on it first.

“Five stars for Vance! He went above and beyond to help me out today. He was incredibly patient, took the time to understand my concerns, and methodically troubleshot every question I had until we got it sorted. It's rare to find that level of dedication and customer service these days. Thanks, Vance!”

“We had two excellent experiences with Vance's company this week, both related to our roof. Mike did a beautiful job on the vent lines. He went the extra mile and did a thorough roof and fireplace chimney inspection.”

Questions

Dickinson roofing questions

Do you work on roofs in Dickinson, TX? +
Yes. Dickinson is about 6 miles from our League City shop on Boden Street, one of the closest towns we cover. We repair leaks, replace worn out roofs, inspect after storms and build cedar fences there. Call (713) 828-2551 and Vance will set a time to come look.
How much does a roof replacement cost in Dickinson? +
It depends on the size and pitch of the roof, how many layers have to come off, how much decking is rotten under the valleys, and the shingle grade you pick. Vance measures the roof and writes each of those down in the quote.
My oak trees drop leaves on the roof all year. Is that a problem? +
Yes, over time. Leaves pile in the valleys and behind chimneys, hold water, and rot the deck underneath. The shade also grows algae and moss on north slopes. Clear the valleys and gutters every fall, trim limbs off the roof, and have the valleys checked when the roof is inspected.
My roof was fine after Harvey. Does it still need looking at? +
Probably, if nobody has inspected it since. Harvey was a flood in Dickinson, so most roofs survived it, but yours is nine years older now and Beryl in July 2024 lifted shingles all over Galveston County. An inspection with photos tells you whether you have years left or a replacement coming.
Do you roof manufactured homes in Dickinson? +
Call and describe it. Manufactured home roofs are lower pitch with less overhang, and some are metal rather than shingle. Vance will tell you honestly whether it is a job we do well or one that belongs with a specialist. He would rather send you elsewhere than do it badly.
