Why does my La Marque roof only leak when the wind comes off the bay?
Because a calm rain runs down the shingles the way they were designed, and a bay wind pushes it back up under them. On the windward slope, every lifted shingle, exposed nail head and dried out pipe boot becomes an opening. Rain driven sideways finds every one of them. The fix is to replace the creased shingles, reseal the courses around them, replace the boots and check the ridge cap, which takes the worst of the wind. If the whole windward slope is lifting, the roof is done, and Vance will say so rather than patch it twice.
